Who we are

CareerMetis.com is an online publication dedicated to helping job seekers and freelancers with actionable advice for launching and succeeding in their professional careers.

We discuss and share information via multiple forms of content – blog posts, guides, lists, podcasts, videos, etc. For more information about who we are check our “About Us” section


What personal data we collect and why we collect it?

a) Website Infrastructure

We have built our website using WordPress, one of the web’s most popular content management systems and website builders. By default WordPress does not collect any analytics data. You can read more about WordPress’s privacy policy here

Our website is hosted by a third-party hosting provider service – Digital Ocean. You can read more about their Terms of Service here

In addition, we use third-party plugins,widgets and softwares to enhance the functionality and the user experience on our website. For instance, for Your interactions with these features are governed by the privacy policy of the company providing it.

b) Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

We use Disqus commenting system throughout our entire website. For more information on Disqus’s privacy and GDPR compliance visit this blog post on Disqus’s website. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. 

b) Media

All the images we use on our site are sourced through 3rd party stock-image websites such as UnSplash,Pixabay, etc.No personal information is collected in this case. We always quote the source name of the original images to provide attribution. All author accounts will reveal the picture of the author, and this information is collected via Globally recognized Gravatars – you can Gravatar’s privacy policy here.

All the videos on the website are sourced from video sharing websites such as YouTube,etc. No videos are uploaded directly on the website. All the videos are embedded into our pages and posts.

All Podcast episodes are recorded with the consent of the guests.No personally identified information is discussed or shared during the episodes. If email addresses are shared and published, it is only done with the consent of that individual(s). Our podcast episodes are hosted via Blubrry Podcasting Services and SoundCloud, and you can read about their privacy policy here(Blubbry) and here (SoundCloud). Podcast episodes are syndicated to multiple providers such as iTunes, Spotify, iHeartMedia, TuneIn, Stitcher, etc. 

If at any point you are directed to a media source or another website they may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

c) Contact forms

Some of the pages on the website collect information via Gravity Forms. The following information is collected via the forms:

  • Name
  • Company Name
  • Company Website
  • Email Address – business or personal.

This information is only collected via the consent of the user filling out the forms.

We use ConvertKit software to collect subscription emails. We might also collect the name of the user. The user has to be complete an additional confirmation via email to be opted-in to our email communication. The user also has the option to opt-out or unsubscribe anytime they wish. In some cases, use HubSpot CRM’s calendar booking service to setup appointments with our users or prospects. In order to confirm a meeting, the user has to share their email address to book and confirm a meeting. 

Subscribers and Author information is collected and stored in our CRM (HubSpot CRM) for communication and editorial purposes.The information collected and added into our CRM is in compliance with HubSpot’s GDPR compliance.

c) Author Information

The content on CareerMetis.com is created predominantly in collaboration with Guest Authors or Contributors. We collect email address, website information ,social media information and author bio(s) from our guest authors.

This information is used to complete their author profiles and displayed on their unique author pages. This information is collected in total consent from the guest authors, and is not shared with any third-party vendors or advertisers.


Cookies

When you visit CareerMetis.com, our system automatically collects information about your visit, such as your browser type, your IP address, demographics and the referring website. This collection may be done in conjunction with our vendors and partners. We may receive from them general demographic or usage data of our site visitors. We do not use automatically collected information to identify you personally without collecting additional consent.

We do not sell products or provide services to children under the age of 13.

CareerMetis.com may collect and use personal information for the following reasons:

  • To personalize your browsing experience.
  • To provide better customer service.
  • To improve our website. We analyze information via Google Analytics, HubSpot CRM, ConvertKit, etc. to understand how our website is performing and will make necessary changes based on this information.
  • To send periodic emails for newsletter subscribers, approved guest authors, potential vendors, etc. 

How we protect your data?

All the information collected is stored on the different software we use to run our website. All information is only accessible via secure login protected by the subscriber’s and user’s username and password. In other words, no one else outside our organization has the access/can access this information.


Who we share your data with

We do not sell, trade or share any data collected, (emails, names or user intent) with any third-party vendors or advertisers.


How long we retain your data?

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register/subscribed to our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profiles. Website administrators can see and edit that information. At any time, the users can contact us to delete and remove any information they have shared with us.


What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us.
