1. Use an Effective Layout and Font
First up, a crucial element of an effective CV is using a layout and font that works. Keep in mind that business owners, recruiters and internal HR managers often have dozens or even hundreds of documents to read each day.
As such, they simply cannot spend a lot of time poring over each one. To get through the load, they scan resumes looking for signs of the qualifications, experience and skills they’re searching for in candidates. If they can’t see this pretty quickly, they’ll simply move on to the next document.
This means your CV needs to be typed up in a scannable format. Break information up into short paragraphs and using multiple sub-headings and bullet points to present the details.
Leave lots of white space on each page too, so the document is easier on the eyes and brain to read. This also helps to avoid a resume looking cluttered and unprofessional.

Rather than simply listing your responsibilities under each job listing in your Career History section, find ways to demonstrate the specific outcomes you have achieved for schools and other employers.

While you will certainly have a template version of your CV to use as the basis for each new document, make sure you tweak the information to suit the job you want to land and the company you want to work for.
